I don't have to build the Polymer factory anymore whereas before it was the first factory I built in a dome.įor me it wasn't worth it. A single meteor can get you 38 polymers in a go. Oh, and you can get tons of polymers from surface now. Couldn't get the Sterling prefab underground too, so I had no means of getting power underground. I couldn't make it go to the asteroid even though it was fully loaded with everything it asked for. I have the Project Mohole for 6000 now, wtf is this?! Also, the scanning brings you tons of money, again, because of surface anomalies repeating themselves. I think I've found the remains of Curiosity 4 times already, and each time it gets me 10% of Social branch off. Second, the anomaly scanning is buggy AF. You can literally flatten a mountain in a matter of minutes. First, it speeds up your landscaping projects. It makes the basic game ridiculously easy. Most of this is all just stuff I’ve fathered by looking at the tech tree and the build menu though, I’m yet to actually colonize there. It’s a very different set of challenges than the surface of Mars, and that makes it interesting. The only way to get power is nuclear, whether that be Sterling generators or fusion reactors. There are no natural disasters down there (besides cave-ins, which can be prevented if you have asteroid resources), there is also no wind and no sun nor is there a way to bring energy in from the surface. I am yet to colonize the underground, I’ve only explored it a bit. There is also the underground, which requires materials from asteroids to colonize (it requires a special kind of dome). With asteroids you basically have to speedrun setting up a colony, extracting everything you can, salvaging valuable parts of your colony, shoving whatever will fit into a rocket, and blasting on out of there before the asteroid becomes inaccessible forever. Unlike everything else your rockets get up to, these are space missions that feel like real space missions with danger and excitement. I’ve explored the underground a bit and landed on an asteroid so far, so obviously this is a very early impression. Here’s my impression so far, as a nocturnal lad who has been playing the DLC basically since it came out:
